Tarragona, a city for filming

Since the dawn of history, the Costa Dorada has been chosen by various civilizations, like the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans, as a place to settle down. That's all thanks to its strategic location, delicious food, peaceful vibe, and amazing weather.

Nowadays, it hasn't been much different! Tarragona, a city that hosts lots of corporate events, has been the backdrop for tons of productions, leaving a lasting impression. The province of Tarragona offers some of the best sunsets in Catalonia, along with its fine, golden sand, tiny rocky coves hidden along its diverse coastline, and its amazing Mediterranean cuisine.

The beaches in this province have been temporary film sets many times from 2012 to 2019, hosting all sorts of productions. We've seen everything from music videos, commercials, and fashion campaigns, to major films and TV series.

A ranking put together by Holidu in 2019, using the IMDb film and audiovisual database, places Tarragona as the 18th province with the most films produced in all of Spain, with 84 shoots. Tarragona is just below Bilbao with 87, and above San Sebastián with 80.

The film production list, led by Madrid with 2174 productions and followed by Barcelona with 1597, shows that Tarragona ranks 3rd among Catalan cities for the most productions in Catalonia.

Some of the most significant shoots filmed in the surrounding area include the feature film Los ojos de Julia by Guillem Morales (2010), the music video by the group El Son de la Chama titled Als de dalt (2013), the feature film Hijo de Caín by director Jesús Monllaó (2013), the commercial El campanero de la paz for Lays (2014), the feature film El Secuestro by Mar Targarona (2016), the TV series La Catedral del mar (2016), and the advertising campaign for Estrella Damm: La vida nostra (2017), among others.

So, as you can see, Tarragona and its surroundings are ideal for building your film set. Also, at San Miguel Tarraco Arena, an event and show venue, you have an unbeatable setting for film productions.
