This December, the magic of Cirque du Soleil lands for the first time in the center of Tarragona with OVO, one of its most colorful, acrobatic and family shows. The premiere at the Tarraco Arena has a very special protagonist: Mateo Amieva Brenes, international artist with roots in the Costa Daurada, who will give life to Master Flipo, the charismatic and clumsy leader of this vibrant hive of insects. From Salou to the world: the trajectory of Mateo Amieva

Although born in Figueres, Mateo considers himself a native of Salou. His career has taken him from PortAventura to Las Vegas, passing through productions such as Believe alongside magician Criss Angel and Messi10, the circus tribute to the Argentinean star. After 17 years with the company, Cirque du Soleil has called him back to lead the new version of OVO, which will start its European tour in Tarragona, before starting in capitals such as London, Rome or Madrid. "I guess the Tarraco Arena squeezed to bring Cirque du Soleil for the first time. It is an honor that Tarragona opens the European tour," says Mateo.

What is OVO? Love, acrobatics and brazilian energy

The story of OVO unfolds in an insect universe teeming with life. With a powerful visual, acrobatic and musical language, the show combines elements of the Amazon jungle with the humor and sensitivity that characterize Cirque du Soleil. "The show speaks of love, friendship and other human values. It is a proposal designed for the whole family," explains Mateo.

At over an hour and a half long, OVO surprises with a live Brazilian soundtrack and costumes designed to bring each creature to life. Among them, Master Flipo, played by Amieva, who returns home to make the local audience laugh and thrill.

For the first time, Cirque du Soleil will perform in Tarragona, with the emblematic Tarraco Arena converted into a cultural epicenter at the end of the year. "Coming back to perform in Tarragona is very special for me. It was where I grew up as an artist, and now I'm coming back with an incredible show. Tarragona, get ready!" says Mateo enthusiastically.
