An Unforgettable Day at Tarraco Arena: Castells Competition 2024

This year, the Tarraco Arena was once again buzzing with the strength, emotion, and passion of the 'colles castelleres' at the 29th Castells Competition. Just like every two years, the world's best human towers were built here, and the atmosphere was electric from the very start. This event isn't just a competition; it's a celebration of hard work, tradition, and teamwork.

From early in the morning, people were eagerly arriving at the Tarraco Arena. The stands quickly filled up with colorful t-shirts representing the different 'colles' (teams).

One of the highlights of the day was the constant challenge between three 'colles' battling for the podium right up until the very last round.

The Castellers de Vilafranca showed once again why they're one of the most admired groups. They snatched the victory after completing a '9 de 9 amb folre' with three 'enxanetas', a feat that left the crowd breathless. The «Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls» managed to complete a majestic '4 de 9 sense folre' and an epic '4 de 10 amb folre i manilles', with their 'castellers' giving it their absolute all. These amazing achievements earned them second place, and they once again proved their characteristic power and bravery, fighting until the very last second.

Finally, the «Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona» gave the local crowd an exciting show by successfully dismantling a '2 de 9 amb folre i manilles' and a solid '3 de 10 amb folre i manilles', earning a well-deserved third place in this fiercely contested competition. The pride of the group and the city was felt with every cheer, and finally, after six years, they managed to get back onto the podium.

But beyond the results and the completed 'castells', what's really clear is that the Castells Competition is much more than just a contest. It's a display of collective effort, the determination of each group, and the sense of community that fills every corner of the Tarraco Arena. The faces of the 'castellers' when they finish a tower, the hugs after each victory, and the respectful gestures between rival groups remind us that, in the end, the podium isn't the most important thing. It's all about the journey, the shared experience, and the passion for a tradition that lives on in everyone's hearts.

Because of all this, from Sant Miquel Tarraco Arena, we want to thank all the groups, the amazing audience who filled the stands, and the city of Tarragona for once again being the heart of this magnificent event. It was a show that will stay in our memories for years!

See you in two years, ready to achieve new dreams. Go Castells!
